Install the scanner app
The Cleartix scanner is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — a web app you install on a phone or tablet and run like any other app. There's nothing to download from an app store.
1. Open the scanner
In your dashboard, click the Scanner link. It opens the scanner at /scanner in your browser. You can also visit that address directly on the device you'll use at the door.
2. Add it to your home screen
Use your browser's Add to Home Screen option to install it:
- iPhone/iPad (Safari): tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
- Android (Chrome): tap the menu, then Install app or Add to Home Screen.
The scanner now has its own icon and opens full-screen, without browser tabs in the way.
3. Allow camera access
The first time you scan, your browser asks for camera permission — allow it. The camera is how the scanner reads the QR code on each ticket.
What device to use
Use a reasonably recent phone or tablet with a decent camera. Good lighting at the door makes scanning faster and more reliable, so set up where screens and tickets are easy to see.
Tip: Once the app is loaded it keeps working without internet, so a weak venue signal won't stop check-in. See Offline scanning to prepare for that before doors open.
