Legal and privacy settings

Your legal settings keep your events compliant and tell customers how their data is handled. Find them under Settings → Legal.

Privacy policy (required)

Add your privacy policy as a link or as inline text. This is required before customers can check out: as the organiser, you are the GDPR data controller for your attendees' personal data, so your policy has to be available at checkout. Without it, paid or free, customers can't complete an order.

No policy yet? Generate one from a template

Most organizers don't have a privacy policy lying around. Under Settings → Legal, the box No privacy policy yet? asks a few questions and writes a complete GDPR policy in your shop language:

  1. Check the pre-filled organization name, address and contact email (taken from your company details and DPO contact).
  2. Tick what you ask buyers: a phone number, a name per ticket, extra questions on the order form. Name, email and the order itself are always covered.
  3. Tick how buyers pay (pre-filled from your connected payment methods), whether buyers can opt in to a newsletter, and whether you take photos or video at events.
  4. Optionally add notes about anything specific, such as a cashless wristband or a loyalty card. With AI enabled on the platform, those notes are woven into the right sections; otherwise they are added as a final section.
  5. Click Generate policy. The draft appears in the text box below, where you read it through, adjust and Save.

The policy states who you are, which data you collect and why, who receives it (ClearTix as processor, your payment provider, your email service), how long you keep it (your data-retention settings), the buyer's rights and where to complain (the supervisory authority for your country). It also states that the ticket shop only uses strictly necessary cookies.

Note: This is a template, not legal advice. It describes how ClearTix works; make sure every sentence matches what you actually do. You remain responsible for your own policy.

Terms and conditions

Optionally add your terms & conditions, again as a link or as inline text. These appear alongside your privacy policy so customers can review them before buying.

DPO contact

If your organisation has a data protection officer, add their contact email. It's shown where customers may need to exercise their data rights.

Age check

For age-restricted events, Cleartix supports an age check at checkout, including parent or guardian consent where relevant. Enable it for events that need it.

Where these appear

Your legal details show up on your public pages, during checkout, and in confirmation emails, so customers always have them to hand.

Note: Without a privacy policy, customers cannot check out at all — set it before you publish your first event.
