Quick start: sell your first ticket
This is the hands-on path from nothing to live ticket sales. It assumes your account and organization already exist.
1. Check your setup
Make sure a payment method is connected and your privacy policy is set. If not, finish the onboarding checklist first — you can't accept paid orders without them.
2. Create an event
Go to Events → New event. Give your event:
- A title and description
- A date and time (shown in the event's timezone, preselected to your organization's default)
- Optionally a location and capacity
Save it as a draft for now.
3. Add a ticket type
Open your event and go to Ticket types → Add type. Give the ticket a name and price, and optionally a capacity and sales window (when sales open and close). Add as many types as you need — for example General and Early bird.
4. Publish
Switch the event from draft to published. It now appears on your public page at your-slug.cleartix.io/<event>.
Tip: Before going live, test a purchase end to end — use a discount code that drops the price to zero, or run in test mode — so you can confirm the flow and confirmation email work.
5. Share
Share your event link directly, or embed the ticket widget on your own website so people can buy without leaving your site.

From here you can collect attendee data at checkout, create discount codes, and check people in at the door with the scanner. Each of these has its own guide in the help center.
